This Heart

This heart has carried sorrow

And known its share of pain

Praying for some bright tomorrow

When love could shine again

It has weathered all the losses

Of the ones it held inside

It has settled for the wrong hearts

Looking for a place to hide

There were times that it felt broken

Left so empty and alone

When the weight of simply living

Nearly turned it into stone

But it always found a way

To keep believing in the truth

That I could find the Angel

I had dreamed of in my youth

So, somehow it kept beating

And it led me to a friend

A heart that cast my fears away

And caution to the wind

This tired heart has found a home

It feels reborn and new

Because the Angel of my dreams
