Three years ago, I
was there by your side
Watching your light
fading fast
Holding on to your
hand and a lifetime of
memories
That got me though
times in the past
For days I had begged
you to simply let go
And give up that
merciless fight
No longer to suffer
the pain and the sorrow
To pass from that
darkness to light
But then in that
moment when you slipped away
I realized that you
were gone
Taking the rock that
I always leaned on
Feeling so lost and
alone
Three years have
passed since I watched you cross over
And no single day
passes by
That I don’t want to
call you and hear your sweet voice
There aren’t many days
I don’t cry
The loss is much
greater the more you are given
And Mama, you gave me
the best
The strength to
survive and somehow move forward
The will to get
through any test
The faith to believe
that our souls are immortal
That somehow, I’ll
see you again
For nothing can fill
the void that you left
Sweet mother, role model,
best friend
