Waking Dream (1:45)

It's a quarter till two and she's restless

With so many thoughts in her head

Trying hard not to wake me, she rises

And quietly slips from the bed

She steps from the room, I turn on the lamp

It seems that we're both wide awake

She brushes her teeth and starts her day early

But barely a sound does she make

Then she opens the door, for that moment I see her

And I find myself falling again

That beautiful smile that she gives only me

My lover, my wife and best friend

Another day starts like the other day ended

I'm the luckiest man, so it seems

From first light to last light her love lights my way

This girl who exceeded my dreams

Happenstance

It must have been another time

Perhaps some other place

A victim searching for a crime

An unfamilar face

Seasons keep on changing

Wars are being fought

Looking for someone to blame

No one is getting caught

Ships that don't pass in the night

Stones remained unturned

Stumbling in this darkness

While bridges brightly burn

Rhymes that have no reason

Paper stained with ink

Dreamless sleep for dreamers

Trying not to think

It all adds up to nothing

A pointless game of chance

Nothing gained and nothing ventured

A case of happenstance

Memories

Sometime before sun up

In a deep and peaceful rest

I felt that sweet sensation

Of breathing on my chest

Fit like puzzle pieces

Skin that covers skin

Memories of what once was

Coming sneaking in again

Time softens the memories

Of careless words and tears

And only love and kindness

Survive the passing years

The laughter and the passion

So much stronger than the pain

These memories of timeless love

Are all that will remain

Choices

It wasn't what she wanted

But no one heard her voice

He took what wasn't his to take

She never had a choice

And no one in her family

Would ever know her shame

Although the one who caused the hurt

Would never get the blame

And the pain that grew inside her

Was not the only seed

Planted in this innocent

A victim of this deed

Yet still the high and mighty

Legislate what she must do

The rights of many stripped away

By a cold, self-righteous few

Sisters, mothers, daughters

Ruled by men who must control

Their bodies and decisions

Regardless of the toll

So, more will die like those before

Because of heartless fools

Who steal the choice, a woman's right

Because they make the rules

The Good Fight

Don't surrender to their darkness

Try to be a shining light

When the odds are all against you

Never hesitate to fight

For the land that you were born to

For the freedom you have known

And for all the friends and family

All the love that you've been shown

For hatred will consume itself

And weapons all will rust

Oppressors fall on their on swords

And tyrants turn to dust

Although history repeats itself

And mighty kingdoms burn

The fools blinded by power

Are the ones who never learn

But our hope is in our people

As it has been all along

And know you never fight alone

Together, we stand strong

When Moments Become Memories

The present is a fleeting gift

That few appreciate

While fretting over what may come

Until it is too late

Sometimes, you have to take a breath

A chance to realize

This moment won't repeat itself

That's where the magic lies

For lost in the minutiae

Is the shining, lasting truth

The joy of simply living

That we once knew in our youth

So, celebrate the laughter

And the love that's all around

And tell someone you're grateful

For the magic you have found

Until one day, when looking back

You finally realize

All those moments became memories

That's where life's meaning lies

The present slips away from us

And fades away so fast

So, spend it turning moments

Into memories that last

Four Years

It's been four years since the loneliness

I tried so hard to hide

And four years since the emptiness

And pain I held inside

Four years since you took this heart

I thought had turned to stone

And filled it with your special love

And made it yours alone

For too long I had wandered

And stumbled on my way

Lost in all my darkness

Too blind to find the day

But you saw light inside of me

I never knew was there

And taught me to believe in love

And someone who could care

For what was left of this old heart

My friend, my love, my wife

The gift you've given for four years

The best years of my life
