Let's not chase that lie

Singing songs of freedom

While letting children die

Proudly thumping on your chest

While putting others down

Doesn't make you great

You pathetic little clown

You're threatened by so many things

To me it's very clear

You're an angry little coward

And you live your life in fear

The bile you spew is putrid

Your words are filled with hate

We need to stop your evil ways 

Before it is too late
It's not enough to grumble
We have to share the truth
And get some friends to join you
In the nearest voting booth
For history will judge
If we all turn a blind eye
And we'll share in the blame
If we don't care enough to try
To be the voice of reason
When reason is so rare
And build a better nation
Where its people always care

I couldn’t see five years ago

Where I would be today

What little I could count on
 Had begun to slip away
One door closed behind me
And it tore my world apart
But then another opened
And she walked into my heart
How could I ever dream of love
Beyond a fantasy
Lost inside her loving eyes
Her smile all I could see
Much more than simply wonderful
This Angel made me whole
Mending this old broken heart
She soothed my aching soul
And now my love has given me
A joy that fills my life
She's all this man could ever want
My lover and my wife
Five years ago my world was dark
With hope nowhere in sight
But now her love's light guides me
Even in the darkest night

Unexpected Angel

Thinking back to harder times

When hopelessness prevailed

Afraid that love had passed me by

So sure that ship had sailed

The saddest kind of loneliness

Is when you're not alone

In the company of those who try

To turn your heart to stone

I finally surrendered

So sure my lot was cast

Until an Angel from my dreams

Appeared from my own past

Someone, who in my darkest hour

Soothed my grieving soul

Her kindness eased the pain I felt

Her sweet smile made me whole

She asked for nothing in return

And from the very start

Her selfless acts of kindness

 Eased my pain and stole my heart

The love I'd only dreamed of

Had come my way at last

From this unexpected Angel

This acquaintance from the past

And now we share a sacred bond

A love so sweet and pure

With comfort and a lasting flame

That always will endure

I spent years in a dark chamber

Locked up inside my mind

So afraid to see the future

So unsure of what I'd find

Living without hope

And feeling sorry for myself

Leaving all my dreams to gather dust

On some forgotten shelf

Hiding in the shadows

And the safety of the night

Until you broke down all my walls

And filled my world with light

It's hard to even recognize

The man I used to be

Never dreaming life could be like this

Till your love set me free

From all those shackles of my past

Those days and nights alone

Replaced by all the love we share

And all the joy we've known

So, now I'm flying to new heights

And know this much is true

For all of my remaining years

Love Bides Its Time

She was eighteen, I was twenty

The first time that we met

I was much too young and foolish

To recognize an Angel yet

For two years we walked common ground

So close, but far apart

No way of comprehending

She would one day own my heart

In time we went our separate ways

I wandered on my own

In the company of others

Always feeling so alone

I settled for some feelings

That were never as they seamed

I could never find the Angel

I saw only when I dreamed

And so the years just slipped away

The dream began to fade

Like lines in some forgotten script

The parts I never played

Until one day, to my surprise 

This Angel reappeared

She comforted my aching heart

The loneliness I feared

A friendship soon developed

That led to love so true

A dream of love I thought was gone

My tired heart, made new

And now I share my life with her

My heart, my love, my soul

This Angel is my everything

Her love has made me whole

Don't think that love won't find you

For it found a heart like mine

Love comes when you are ready

Until then, it bides its time

There is a sacred circle

That is several centuries old

Where you'll find the greatest treasures

That cannot be bought or sold

Where everyone is welcome

And equal in this place

Inside walls of brick and mortar

It is love that fills this space

Here peace is more than just a dream

And justice is the light

That guides us to a better world

And through the darkest night

All differences are set aside

Defined by what we share

Acceptance without judgement

The man I was two years ago

Was lost and so alone

Thinking that this tired heart

Had finally turned to stone

Tired of always settling

And never satisfied

Tired of disappointment

And the emptiness inside

But in my darkest hour

She appeared, my brightest light

She brought me love and comfort

Making everything so right

The Angel I had dreamed of

A fantasy come true

Erased my painful memories
