Sacred Circle

There is a sacred circle

That is several centuries old

Where you'll find the greatest treasures

That cannot be bought or sold

Where everyone is welcome

And equal in this place

Inside walls of brick and mortar

It is love that fills this space

Here peace is more than just a dream

And justice is the light

That guides us to a better world

And through the darkest night

All differences are set aside

Defined by what we share

Acceptance without judgement

A love that is so rare

Each soul completes this circle

As it was always planned

 We pass the bread and share the wine

The Man I Was

The man I was two years ago

Was lost and so alone

Thinking that this tired heart

Had finally turned to stone

Tired of always settling

And never satisfied

Tired of disappointment

And the emptiness inside

But in my darkest hour

She appeared, my brightest light

She brought me love and comfort

Making everything so right

The Angel I had dreamed of

A fantasy come true

Erased my painful memories 

And made my old heart new

And so, I pledge to cherish her

My lover and my friend

This heart belongs to her alone

A love that will not end

Dreams Exceeded

Once I was adrift some place

Where nothing is as it seems

Afraid to see tomorrow

I'd given up on dreams

The future looked so cloudy

And darkness ruled the day

Haunted by my failures

With nothing left to say

Love was an illusion

A portrait in my mind

A painting of the Angel

I thought I'd never find

But when my heart had given up

You found your way inside

And swept away the shadows

Where once I used to hide

And where there was such darkness

Your love has brought new light

Bringing joy to all my days 

And comfort to my nights

So, I will pledge forever

That this heart belongs to you

The one who helped me dream again

And made them all come true.

More Than a Dream

For years I had a fantasy 

Of what true love could be

Until I stopped believing 

That such love was meant for me

I wrote about an Angel

Who could make my darkness bright

But still I stumbled blindly

Always searching for that light

So, I gave up on those dreams

And learned to settle for much less

And tried to find a moment

With a glimpse of happiness

Until you walked back in my life

After all those years apart

You sparked a fire inside of me

And quickly owned my heart

So, once again I dared to dream

That love could come my way

And I could find a joy in you

That brightens every day

But dreams are only fantasies

And nothing can compare

To all that you have given me

And all the love we share

When I woke up this morning

I could only see your face

And this moment I have dreamed of

Standing in this sacred place

For all that you have given me

The dreams you’ve made come true

I am forever grateful

And this heart belongs to you

My best friend and companion

On this day becomes my wife

Mere words cannot describe this joy

My Thanksgiving Toast

I'm thankful for the life I've lived

The lessons I have learned

For all the bumps and bruises

And every scar I've earned

I'm grateful for the laughter

I'm better for the tears

Battling my weaknesses
Confronting all my fears
For all the ones that helped me
Though some have gone away
Their love has left its mark on me
And guides me every day
I'm thankful for my family
My siblings and my sons
Even when I let you down
You were my special ones
And I'm grateful for my Angel
Who brings joy into my life
And I'm counting down the days
Until that Angel is my wife
I celebrate with gratitude
And offer up this toast
A wish of joy and happiness
For those I love the most

Anniversary Poem

I spent my whole life searching

For a dream inside my head

And wound always settling

For something less instead

I never thought it could be real

This Angel in my mind

The one who could exceed my dreams

Impossible to find

But in my darkest hour

You walked into my life

Yet I could never dream one day

That you would be my wife

But early last November

You gave your heart to me

And turned my sorrow into joy

The truth was plain to see

You are my one true Angel

A living dream come true

And each year like this first one

Will be spent loving you
